Writing Assignment #2

Get ready for an exciting showdown as Bayern Munich returns to the pitch against VfB Stuttgart.

Bayern sit atop the table after a dominant 3-0 win over third-place Union Berlin. But rivals Borussia Dortmund sit level on points after 22 matches. With 12 games remaining, things are getting tight in the race for the title.

In Bayern’s last time out, now 20-year-old, Jamal Musiala, scored his 11th goal of the Bundesliga campaign which puts him atop the team and fourth in the league in the category. He will look to add to that tally with yet another goal against Stuttgart.

Musiala also leads the team with seven assists in the league. That also puts him fourth in the Bundesliga.

Stat leaders going into the match against Stuttgart include: Musiala (11 goals, 7 assists)

These two teams last met on Sept. 10 for Matchday 6. In that meeting it left at a 2-2 draw. Musiala scored the go-ahead goal in the 60th minute. Much to Bayern fans' heartbreak, Serhou Guirassy bagged the tying goal in the 92nd.

The 3-0 win over Union Berlin on Saturday means Bayern has now

only lost one of their last 23 games. That stretch includes 17 wins.

Stuttgart on the other hand has lost three of their last four.

The 15th-place team sits just outside the relegation zone. They're level on points with Hoffenheim and Bochum who are in danger of going down.

Last time out they dropped to Schalke 2-1 as a 63rd-minute Borma Sosa goal wasn’t enough to spark a two-goal deficit comeback.

The struggling Stuttgart have only four wins in Bundesliga play this season but are led by Sosa who has eight total goal contributions on the year.

The match will take place on Saturday at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart.
